DESCRIPTION
Congenital glaucoma is caused by abnormal development of the draining angle of the eye.
DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA
Symptoms:
- Tearing
- Photophobia
- Blepharospasm
Signs:
- Enlarged eye (buphthalmos or “cow eye” appearance)
- Corneal haziness (due to corneal oedema or scarring)
- Optic disc cupping
- Raised intraocular pressure
REFERRAL
Urgent (to ophthalmologist):
- All patients.
