DESCRIPTION
Progressive gingivitis to the point where the underlying bone is eroded, is characterised by teeth becoming loose in their sockets.
It is a cause of tooth loss in adults.
GENERAL AND SUPPORTIVE MEASURES
- Advice on improving and maintaining oral hygiene. See Gingivitis, uncomplicated . General and supportive measures.
MEDICINE TREATMENT
- Chlorhexidine 0.2%, 15 mL as a mouthwash, 2–4 times daily for 5 days.
REFERRAL
- All cases to a dentist.
