DESCRIPTION

Involuntary random, irregular movements.

Aetiology is classified as:

  • primary – Huntington’s chorea,; or
  • secondary – Sydenham’s chorea, hemiballismus secondary to infarction, diabetes (hyperglycemia)

MEDICINE TREATMENT

Treat the underlying cause, if relevant.

  • Haloperidol, oral, 0.5–5 mg 8–12 hourly (Specialist consultation).
